Performing a software update for Mars (Klix) Momentum machines

The following instructions describe how to proceed with a software update using a USB stick.

Step 1: Download Software

First, the current software version (available from the machine manufacturer's website) must be saved to a USB stick. The published and released current software can be found under the designation "RubyUpdate-Ver-1310-Prod25.uup". This version is current as of March 2018. Information on how to use the USB stick etc. can be found in the EPDM document "DOC-000101 Update KLIX Momentum Software Information" on the machine manufacturer's website.

Step 2: Write USB stick

After downloading the .rup or .uup data to a computer, the data must be copied to the root folder of the USB stick. Important: You cannot store multiple update versions on one USB stick. If there is an older software version on the stick, it must be deleted beforehand. Remember that after copying the data onto the USB stick, it must be properly ejected, as is usually done by the computer software.

Step 3: Software update

1. When the machine is switched on and ready for operation, the USB stick with the previously installed software must be inserted into the USB port in the coin payout area.
2. After about 10 seconds, the display on the machine changes and awaits confirmation to carry out the software update.
3. Press the "Update" icon to start.
4. The new software is now transferred from the USB stick to the machine. The current status can be seen on the display.
5. When the update mode is finished (the display shows "100%"), remove the USB stick from the port.
6. Press "Finish" or "Abenden" on the machine display. The machine will now reboot.

Achtung: Schalten Sie den Automaten nicht aus, oder entfernen den USB-Stick, während das Software-Update durchgeführt wird. Stellen Sie sicher, dass während des gesamten Update-Prozesses die Stromversorgung nicht unterbrochen wird (z.B. Elektroarbeiten am Standort usw.). Eine solche Unterbrechung würde zur Beschädigung des Flash-Speichers auf der Automatensteuerung führen. In diesem Fall müsste die Automatensteuerung getauscht und neu Programmiert werden.

Während des Neustarts können verschiedene Zahlen oder Buchstaben-Codes angezeigt werden. Dies ist nach einem Software-Update normal und hat keine Bedeutung. Nach abgeschlossenem Neustartvorgang wird der Startbildschirm wieder in gewohnter Weise dargestellt. Die neue Software ist nun installiert. Nach einer geringen Wartezeit (dies hängt von der aufgespielten Software ab) ist der Automat wieder Betriebsbereit. Angegebene Zeiten beim Softwareupdate beziehen sich auf die bei Erstellung des Textes verfügbare Version und können bei zukünftigen Versionen abweichen.
